This year’s recipient is Kathy Clendenning, 57, who is currently undergoing treatment for Stage IV Uterine Cancer.  In November of 2018 Kathy’s doctor thought she was suffering from gallbladder pain and the plan was to remove it after Christmas. On December 11th, Kathy, who is a teacher at St. James in Davis, was rushed via ambulance to the hospital after experiencing severe pain and shortness of breath.  She was admitted with a pulmonary embolism.  It was at this time that the cancer was discovered.   She started chemotherapy treatments, in January, which left her completely debilitated and sick.  After chemotherapy Kathy underwent a complete hysterectomy at the end of March.  She has now started back with chemotherapy for three more treatments.  Kathy has been unable to work since her diagnosis.  A Vacaville resident for over 40 years, many of you who have golfed in this tournament from the beginning may remember Kathy as the photographer for this event for many years.  You also may know her from Math Masters, which she owned from 2001 to 2016.   Kathy lives in Vacaville with her mother Irma and her father Glen resides in a local memory care facility.  Her brother Steve drives down from his home in Salem, OR to take her to her chemo treatments and her surgeries.  Kathy’s oldest brother, Chris, passed away about 10 years ago due to an aortic aneurysm.  Kathy has volunteered and supported this tournament for many years as a photographer, purchasing hole sponsorships and coming to the dinners.  It is now our chance to help Kathy with her fight against cancer.
