Last year’s 2013 recipient was Ben Hawley, 61, who is currently undergoing treatment for Prostate Cancer. Many of you may already know Ben and/or his family as they have been in Vacaville for over 50 years. Like Stan, Ben was a star high school athlete. He stayed in Vacaville where he owned and operated a local construction firm. Ben knows firsthand what it takes to fight an illness and how important it is to have a strong support system as his wife Elaine lost her battle to Juvenile Diabetes two years ago. They were married for over 30 years, and Ben was a devoted husband throughout Elaine’s struggles.
